Amahlati Tented Camp is situated in the secluded historic Waterkloof area of our reserve enabling visitors to experience silence, solitude and the wilderness. Amahlati is ideally situated as a base for hiking, horse riding or mountain biking in the Reserve or district.

Accommodation, in two comfortable, up-market tents with surrounding decks, is in a picturesque setting of indigenous forest bordering Amahlati dam which abounds in bird-life. The tents, Impunzi (duiker) and Isikhova (owl), are isolated from each other to ensure privacy.
Sitting on the veranda of Impunzi one has a panoramic view of Iron Mount which looms over the valley and was occupied by the Xhosa during the Eighth Frontier war against the British forces and was the scene of several skirmishes. The wooden deck of Isikhova juts over the still waters of Amahlati dam where one can bird watch in comfort, throw a line, or simply relax and absorb the tranquil atmosphere of the surroundings.

The Amahlati tents are tastefully and very well-appointed with comfortable twin beds. Privacy is ensured as each has its own ablution facilities (H/C shower, flush toilet) as well as solar lighting.
The Amahlati Tented Camp provides an opportunity for families, groups or small corporate teams to enjoy a unique stay in a lovely, secluded area of the reserve.
Each tent has 2 beds, but additional beds can be brought in should the need arise.
In the boma area full- or self-catering is offered to guests.
